Australia has always performed well at the Olympic Games and it’s not expected that London 2012 will be any different, predictions range from 42 to 58 medals at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Below is a further breakdown of where we can expect some medal action:
- BASKETBALLÂ
- The Australian Opals are a real chance for a podium position at London 2012 and should be able to tear away with a Silver or Bronze medal
- BOXING
- Damien Hooper a light heavyweight who is ranked No.2 in the world and should be able to bring in a Silver Medal for Australia
- CANOEING – SLALOM & SPRINT
- Australia should show well in these events and is expected to bring in at least two medals
- DIVING
- Matthew Mitcham, Loudy Wiggins and Rachel Bugg should be able to provide Australia with two medals from London 2012
- EQUESTRIAN – DRESSAGE, EVENTING & JUMPING
- Australia’s eventing team should be able to match the effort at Bejing and bring home a Silver form London
- GYMNASTICS – ARTISTIC & RHYTHMIC
- Lauren Mitchell is the bright hope for Australia at the London Olynmpics and she could well bring home a silver
- HOCKEY
- Kookaburras are tope rated and world class, they should be able to win gold at the London 2012 Olympics. The Hockeyroos aren’t expected to threaten
- SAILING
- Australia has a deep pool of talent when it comes to Sailing and we should expect at least two gold medals
- SHOOTING
- Lalita Yauhleuskaya is ranked third in the 10m air pistol, should be able to take a medal
- TRIATHLON
- For the women we would expect at least on of our Emma’s to perform well. Emma Moffatt, Emma Jackson and Emma Snowsill are all world class. Expectations of at least one medal.
- WATER POLO
- The Stingers (Womens Team) should be in line for a bronze at least
